Tokyo Station is the starting point of Japan’s railroad system, served by the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines, the Hokkaido, Tohoku, Yamagata, Akita, Joetsu, and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines, the Utsunomiya, Takasaki, and Joban lines via the Tokaido and Ueno Tokyo lines, the Chuo, Yamanote, Keihin Tohoku, Yokosuka and Sobu rapid transit lines, and Keiyo Line.

On the Marunouchi side, there are commercial facilities such as the Marunouchi Building, Shin-Marunouchi Building, KITTE, and Marunouchi Oazo, and Tokyo Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line is located underground. The area is surrounded by office buildings, and the Imperial Palace stretches beyond.
On the Yaesu side of the station, the GranTokyo North Tower houses the Daimaru Tokyo Store, and the Yaesu Underground Mall extends underground. Express buses to various destinations arrive and depart from the “Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu” located in front of the “Grand Roof” in front of the Yaesu Exit and to the southeast, making the area a transportation node for buses as well as trains.
There are a total of 43 coin lockers at Tokyo Station!
Tokyo Station has a total of 43 coin lockers: 13 inside the ticket gates and 30 outside the ticket gates!
As one would expect from such a large number of users, there are many coin lockers in the station.
It would be better if all the coin lockers were marked with a letter of the alphabet, but unfortunately, they are not.
Also, some of the coin lockers outside the ticket gates on the Yaesu side are managed by JR Tokai, unlike JR East, which manages the majority of the coin lockers, so the alphabet is assigned differently, making things complicated.
Since the stations are large and there are many coin lockers, be careful not to forget where you left your money.
Both JR East and JR Tokai have published coin locker layout maps on the Internet.
- Tokyo Station Coin Lockers and Luggage Deposit Boxes|Tokyo Station City (JR East)
 - Tokyo Station Ichibangai Coin Locker Usage (JR Tokai)

Also, JR East’s “Tokyo Station Navi (Tokyo Station Guide Service),” a smartphone application, will provide directions to the desired coin locker based on location information.
- Tokyo Station Navi (Tokyo Station Guide Service) in the App Store
 - Tokyo Station Navi (Tokyo Station Guide Service) – Apps on Google Play

If you are worried about getting lost because Tokyo Station is so large, download the app and it will guide you to the place you are looking for, including the coin lockers.
