Wakkanai Station is the terminal station of the JR Hokkaido Soya Main Line and the northernmost station in Japan. Wakkanai Station is part of the “Kitakara” complex, and other facilities include a bus terminal, a regional exchange center, a movie theater, restaurants, and stores.
Outside the facility is a large parking lot, which also serves as “Roadside Station Wakkanai. It takes about 10 minutes from the station to Cape Noshappu by bus, and about 40 minutes to Cape Soya.
I will now introduce the coin lockers at Wakkanai Station.
Coin Lockers at Wakkanai Station
Exit the ticket gate and proceed to the left to reach an indoor plaza called the atrium.
If you turn left at the atrium, you will see the “Machinaka Information Corner” and a coin locker is located a little further ahead on the right side of the corridor.

- 200 yen: 15 pieces
- 300 yen: 6 pieces
- 500 yen: 12 pieces
Suitcases can be placed in the 500 yen lockers.
Payment is in coins only, and a currency exchange machine is located next to the locker.
Suica and other transportation IC cards are not accepted.
Notes on using coin lockers at Wakkanai Station
Coin-operated lockers at Wakkanai Station are available for a maximum of 3 days.
A daily fee will be added for every 24 hours of use.
Please note that if you leave your items for more than 4 days, they will be moved to another location and disposed of after 30 days of storage.
Extra: Coin lockers in the bus terminal waiting area
After exiting the ticket gate, go straight through the atrium and you will find the waiting area for the bus terminal at the back, where coin lockers are also located.

- 200 yen: 8 pieces
- 400 yen: 2 pieces
Suitcases can be placed in the 400 yen lockers.
Payment is in coins only and can be used only on the same day.
