Shin-Kobe Station is where the Shinkansen bullet train stops.
If you come from far away, you will probably go sightseeing in Kobe from now on.
But if your luggage is heavy, you will soon get tired even if you are sightseeing.
In such a case, use coin-operated lockers or luggage storage services. Here are the results of our survey.
Coin Locker Locations at Shinkansen Shin-Kobe Station
At Shinkansen Shin-Kobe Station, there are two coin locker locations.
I will introduce each location.
Coin lockers for exclusive use of transportation system IC cards
There are also coin-operated machines for public transport IC cards such as Suica and ICOCA where you go to the Shinkansen ticket gates. They are easy to use because they save you the trouble of getting change.
Since it is the closest coin-operated machine to the gate, it was almost always in use, even on weekdays. Availability is tricky.

- 400 yen: 8 pieces
- 600 yen: 7 pieces
- 700 yen: 7 pieces
Large coin lockers can also hold suitcases.
The following transportation IC cards can be used to pay for coin lockers at Shin-Kobe Station; PiTaPa is not accepted.
- Suica
- PASMO
- ICOCA
- Kitaca
- TOICA
- manaca
- Hayakaken
- SUGOCA
- nimoca

Coin locker at the back of the restroom
If you go to the far left of the coin-operated lockers for the Transport IC cards mentioned earlier, you will find a large number of coin-operated lockers. They are located at the back of the restrooms.
Because there are so many, the availability was good. I think you can use them as long as you don’t need them too much.

- 400 yen: 57 pieces
- 500 yen: 63 pieces
- 700 yen: 48 pieces
There are several large coin-operated lockers for 700 yen.
They are recommended if you leave suitcases in them.
Payment methods include cash and transport system IC cards such as Suica and ICOCA.
Most of the coin-operated lockers are for Transportation System IC cards.
They are divided by alphabet and only B, C, F and G can be used with both cash and transport system IC cards. The rest of the alphabetical sections are for transport system IC cards only.

These lockers can be used for a maximum of three days.
The system is such that a day’s worth of charges are added at 2:00 a.m.
As you can see, there are a surprisingly large number of coin-operated lockers at Shin-Kobe Station, so you should have no problem leaving your luggage there.
Baggage storage service is also available
After exiting the ticket office at Shinkansen Shin-Kobe Station and descending to the first floor, you will find a temporary baggage storage area. This is the location of the station’s car rental office.

The service is available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and costs 700 yen.
If you are returning within these hours, we recommend using the luggage storage service.
Coin lockers are also available at Shin-Kobe Subway Station
There are coin-operated lockers not only at Shinkansen Shin-Kobe Station but also at Shin-Kobe Subway Station.
Since they are located in hidden places, these coin lockers are a good place to find a hole in the ground.
When you go from Shinkansen Shin-Kobe Station to Subway Shin-Kobe Station and see the subway ticket gates, walk to the left without going through the gates.

▼If you do, there are coin-operated lockers.
There are 300 yen and 500 yen coin lockers.
There are two locations, one in the front and one in the back, and they were mostly empty, so these are the coin lockers you should aim for.
The 500 yen coin locker can hold a suitcase. It is cheaper than at the Shinkansen station.

- 300 yen: 16 pieces
- 500 yen: 4 pieces
Coin-operated lockers in the back of the building will be more suitcase compatible.

- 300 yen: 12 pieces
- 500 yen: 6 pieces
The maximum time available is 72 hours.
Payment is cash only.
ICOCA and other transport system IC cards are not accepted.
